Lenovo ThinkPad 8 Windows Tablet Now Available

Lenovo ThinkPad 8

Lenovo’s ThinkPad 8 tablet with an 8″ display and Windows 8.1 is now available for purchase. It’s business-centric and the best specced one among Windows-based 8-inchers to date. That’s primarily thanks to full HD 1080p resolution instead of common 720p, but also a faster 2.4-Gigahertz Z3770 Intel Atom “Bay Trail” processor instead of the 1.8GHz Z3740. Additionally, the ThinkPad 8 is the first device of its kind to optionally come with Pro edition of Windows 8(.1).

Lenovo Unveils ThinkPad 8 Windows Tablet with 8.3″ 1080p Display; 2.4GHz Atom

Lenovo ThinkPad 8

Lenovo today unveiled the ThinkPad 8, a tablet with best specifications to date in the 8-inch Windows 8 category.

The most improtant highlights are a full HD 1920×1200-pixel display with actually 8.3″ diagonal, instead of common 1280×800 8.0″, and a slightly faster Intel Atom “Bay Trail” CPU. The Lenovo ThinkPad 8 comes with a 2.4GHz quad-core Atom, whereas other similar tablets ship with a 1.8GHz variant. Although Lenovo hasn’t listed the exact CPU model, we assume it’s an Atom Z3770 series chip. Compared to the 1.8GHz Z3740, the Z3770 brings a speed bump from 1,100 PassMark CPU points to about 1,230, but in both cases these provide enough oomph for normal daily web and office tasks, but without video / photo editing and gaming potential of the Intel Core series.
